The main square of of the city is today a pedestrian precinct, a community place loved by locals and visitors alike its terraces and summer evening programmes attract everyone, and the renewed Déri Square does the same, with the cosy atmosphere of its fountains conjuring up the spirit of the bygone days. National and international sporting events are also frequently held in the Főnix Hall.
